Valentine’s Day celebration at UK Sector 8

Valentine’s Day, also called Saint Valentine’s Day or the feast of Saint Valentine, is celebrated annually on February 14. It is celebrated as a day of expressing love between family and friends .

On Tuesday 14 February Udayan Kidz held its Valentine’s day celebration and activities in the morning .   All children were invited to come dressed in red to celebrate this special day. The day started with a few Valentine’s Day rhymes .

We also made children aware about why we celebrate this day and also did some activities expressing their friendliness and affection towards each other to foster warmth and respect .We also had one activity which was tearing and pasting in a heart

shape. This was a group activity and children really liked it .

We have done a card making activity with students in which all students made a little heart with

their thumb print on a card for their parents with the help of their teachers. We ended the celebration dancing our hearts out, and giving chocolate, candies, balloons and cards made by students to their parents

Valentine’s Day has traditionally focussed on romantic love but it also provides parents with a great opportunity to teach children to understand and appreciate all kinds of relationships. The benefits of healthy interpersonal relationships are far too many to list here, and have impacts on both mental and physical wellbeing. This day can be an opportunity for parents to encourage their children to practise affection towards each other

Setting personal boundaries and respecting the boundaries of others is at the core of any healthy relationship, and fostering that understanding early on will help your children throughout life. Have your children write down the things they value within themselves and others, and encourage them to honour those values by setting healthy confines  for themselves and others.
