Celebrating Dussehra at Udayan Kidz

What is Dussehra?

Dussehra, also called Vijayadashami, is a Hindu festival that marks the victory of good over evil. It is celebrated at the end of Navratri, usually in September or October. The festival remembers Lord Rama’s victory over the demon king Ravana, and also the triumph of Goddess Durga over the buffalo demon Mahishasura. On this day, people burn tall effigies of Ravana, Meghnath, and Kumbhkaran to symbolize the end of evil. It teaches us that truth and goodness always win in the end.

Why it is celebrated?

Dussehra is celebrated to show that good always wins over evil.

  • It reminds us of Lord Rama’s victory over Ravana, the demon king, who had kidnapped Sita.
  • It also marks Goddess Durga’s victory over Mahishasura, a powerful demon.
  • People celebrate by burning Ravana’s effigy, which means we should also burn the bad qualities inside us like anger, greed, and lies.

How Udayan Kidz celebrated?
