Spreading Kindness and Joy – Udayan Kidz Celebrates Guru Nanak Jayanti

What is Guru Nanak Jayanti?

Guru Nanak Jayanti — also known as Gurpurab — is one of the most important festivals in the Sikh religion. It celebrates the birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, the first Sikh Guru and founder of Sikhism.

Why is it Celebrated?

We celebrate Guru Nanak Jayanti to remember the values taught by Guru Nanak Dev Ji — truthfulness, sharing with others, helping the needy, and treating everyone equally. These are beautiful lessons for young children to learn and follow in their daily lives. The festival encourages children to be kind, helpful, and respectful to all.

How did Udayan Kidz Celebrated?

At Udayan Kidz, our little learners celebrated Guru Nanak Jayanti with great devotion and joy. The school set up themed decorations and a background board to celebrate and honor Guru Nanak Dev Ji.

  • Children wore traditional attire and explored Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s life and teachings through engaging stories and visuals.
  • They participated in a Prabhat Pheri (morning procession) within the school premises, chanting “Satnam Waheguru.”
  • Teachers displayed a small Gurudwara model and demonstrated how people offer prayers and perform seva (helping others) with devotion.
  • The celebration ended with children sharing Karah Prasad (holy sweet) and enjoying the feeling of togetherness and peace.

“Messages of love, sharing, and equality filled the day, guiding our tiny tots to understand the importance of being good human beings — just as Guru Nanak Dev Ji taught the world.”
