Navratri Day 7 – Worship of Maa Kaalratri

Introduction

The seventh day of Navratri is dedicated to Maa Kaalratri, the fiercest and most powerful form of Goddess Durga. Her appearance is dark and terrifying, with unkempt hair, blazing eyes, and a fearless posture. She rides a donkey and carries a sword and a deadly iron hook, while her other hands offer protection and blessings.

Despite her fearsome form, Maa Kaalratri is a benevolent goddess who destroys ignorance, evil, and darkness. She is the remover of fear and the granter of liberation.

Significance of Maa Kaalratri

Maa Kaalratri represents the power of transformation, fearlessness, and spiritual awakening. She is associated with the Sahasrara Chakra (Crown Chakra), which governs enlightenment and divine connection. Her worship helps devotees conquer fear, break free from illusions, and embrace inner truth.

According to mythology, she destroyed powerful demons like Shumbha, Nishumbha, and Raktabeej. Her story teaches us that facing darkness is essential for spiritual growth and that true strength lies in fearlessness.
